Does anyone know any brand or part number for a floor shifter for 5 speed Allison. I found a couple threads on here and other forums talking about this in the past but never found any concrete answers. We raced at Rudy’s this weekend and went through tech, now they want us to have a floor mounted shifter any help is appreciated thank you.

Said they want us to have a gated shifter with reverse lock out so no accidental reverse is what tech guy told me

How fast is the truck running? That’s the first I’ve heard of a track not liking the factory shift lever.

We run the 6.70 index class and I asked a few other guys in the staging lanes and they all said they were told the same

Torqued to max I thought he was confused as well and told him I wasn’t aware of any aftermarket Allison shifters but he looked in my cab and told me that and other auto guys with factory Column shifts confirmed also

If Isaac G was around tonight he could help us out with answers , but I have never heard of anything like that except for pro pullers ! I hope a pro chimes in and enlightens us both !

Um, IIRC what Ben said years and years ago....

the Allison will not shift into Reverse from Drive while the vehicle is moving, ever if you purposely shift it into R. Something to do with the logic in the TCM.
If you've ever went past neutral at the end of a sledpull, you know what Im talking about.

Ben was correct. Impossible to even shift into 1st at 100MPH.

Factory column shifters have a positive reverse lock out. I would call that tech guy out. I’ve been running a column shifter in my chevelle for the last decade all over the western US and have never had a tech question it. I checked my truck today after reading your post and it does the same thing. You can’t shift from neutral to reverse without Pulling the shift handle towards you. If you just move the handle upward it stops at neutral without the extra pull. That is the factory positive locking mechanism.

Race it again and if questioned show them. He is wrong.

I told him I wasn’t aware of any options so I was just going to run it. Next race is June 1-2 in Kentucky we will see what he says there. Thanks for all the reply’s

As long as the shifter uses the Allison detents ( stops between gears ), it will work fine.

I was talking with Suncoast this weekend at UCC about a shifter they had on display and they said they can build any pattern and any speed transmission that you would need.
