Okay, I have an idea but I don't know if it's going to work very well. I did the LBZ MP but had to hack and cobble the K&N intake system I had on the truck already. I got a complete LBZ intake for the truck minus the air filter. I was thinking I can simply get an aftermarket air filter and toss it on the lbz pipe.

So, has anyone done this before? Should I get a OEM replacement filter? Any other suggestions?

So you bought the gm round cylinder style housing and it came with everything but the filter. By everything I mean it came with tube, clamps, maf, lower housing, and screw in cover?

If so just hit the local napa and buy a filter. Most of them are donaldson filters even the aftermarket ones.

I didn't get the MAF. I didn't think I needed it. I do know that I might have to re-scale my MAF readings for the larger intake. I guess i'll figure that out once I get the intake on. I'm not familiar with the lower housing either. I don't think I got that. Everything else is there (I assume). I have been really busy lately and haven't got an exact inventory on the parts.

All I really wanted was the tube but figured I might need the round housing (where the filter goes) to make it all work. I know there are some clamps in the box, I can get some if they are missing. The bottom mounting plate is there as well.

The goal for the truck is 500hp. I'm sneaking up on that number quickly. I've read on here that the stock intake and filter can support that power. I would assume a aftermarket filter might help. I need all the help I can get, I got some big tires and the dyno doesn't seem to like them, even with the gears. :(

Thanks for the replies fellas!! I will try and look things over tomarrow. I'm getting ready for a baby coming in a couple months. I've been running short on time.

No, you don't need the MAF, your 05 MAF will work fine (as long as the airbox came off a LBZ, not a LMM). Yes, you'll need to rescale the MAF table.

Here's the proper table (in lbs/min):

Personally, just order the s&b lbz filter kit and be done. Sell what ever you have currently and you will have a complete match set. The donaldson filters are not cheap.

I would have done that in the first place but I don't want to spend almost $300.00 for ANOTHER intake. I bought a K&N like an idiot, then the LBZ MP, so i'm already in this thing close to or over $400.00 so far. I'm not getting my monies worth for the performance gains. I'm going to do this "right" but as cheap as I can.
