I just bought a well cared for '03 CA truck w/ 154K and stock. The dealer did new glow plugs (warranty) and said my vacuum pump is NG and is causing the 0101 and 0404 codes. It also smokes till I clear the codes, then runs clean until the codes come back up (quickly). I need a recommendation for a programmer, for economy mostly, and the best way to get rid of the egr, cat and vacuum pump. Will a PPE Standard get rid of the emissions codes and the smoke and help with fuel economy and power or is there something better? I want something that is as plug-and-play as possible or at least tinker free.
Thanks in advance...

The vac pump won't cause those, the 101 is mass air flow sensor related and the 404 is the Egr.

Spend a few hundred dollars more and buy EFILive from a reputable vendor that will give you a good tow tune for your truck. EFI has a LOTS more diagnostic capability than the PPE. As for the PPE EGR delete, you should ask PPE about that....EFI can certainly be programed to delete the EGR. In reference to fuel economy, every time I have added performance equipment to the truck, it has improved the mileage as long as I keep my foot out of it...:roflmao:

Just my thoughts...it may actually save you some money if you decide to take your truck a little farther than the PPE standard.

If you want plug and play call PPE and speak to Dan, there the best programer on the market and I think the standard does block the codes. PPE is in Cali so they should be used to dealing with these issues. EFI is great, but it aint plug and play.
