Finally got a fuel issue figured out, and I'm seeing 35 pounds so far on slushy roads. I can't wait to hit dry pavement and push this thing. I haven't tried any adjustments yet as I just got it running right. I was thinking about using a reg. but this seemed like more fun. This took litterly 2.00 to make, all that brass gets pricy.I just dropped 7k on this pig for maintenance parts.

Thank you yellowchevy for the great write up, and info on these ihi's. This batmo sure sounds great in person.

I've just never seen much success with spring adjusted waste gates. The regulator is so easy and takes 5 minutes at best to do. If I want 40psi I just have to turn it counter clockwise.

I'm not trying to knock you by any means, just want to give others that read this another option being the air regulators are easy and consistent.

No problem :thumb: I'm getting better results with other wheels though:D:woott:

Your pushing 35 pounds of boost on a stock IHI? BOLD! I've seen to many posts about them biting the dust over 32 for me to chance it. And yes, it's like a turbo master for the 6.5. Like said above, it's been tried and doen before, and most always people do away with them in the long term. They just don't regulate boost pressure very well. They do increase boost on the cheap, but at the cost of a loss in boost control.

I'm only doing so for my turbo testing to see what it can do. Once I'm done it will get a rebuild and set at around 28-30psi at a max.

Just to clarify; as I've told people that ask what boost they can run, I tell them for longevity I wouldn't go over 28psi, and only on occasion.
I'm not that stupid, although I second guess myself when I look in the mirror!!:roflmao:

I ran my gate right at 30 lbs on my last LB7 for 50k. When I pulled the charger it was still within spec. If I plan on keeping a stock charger alive for 100k, then I wouldn't go past 28psi. JMO.

Yeah. I need to edit that.25#was what I was getting. Which is about normal. I'm more concerned with the gate opening early more than anything. I could only imagine what drive psi would be at 35#.

On the dyno on my max effort tune at 34psi of boost I'm seeing 56-58psi of back pressure depending on the compressor wheel I'm using.

With the regulator set at 34-35psi I get to 25-30psi quick.

I was pushing 25 pounds of boost with the wastegate setup stock. I put in a KENNEDY boost valve set as low as it can go, and I now hit 28 in lockup. I just needed that little extra boost to finish clearing up the smoke at a 2250 pulse.
