My ac is not cold at all when I'm in town or idling. Get out of town and it gets cool. I was thinking my fan clutch is the culprit. It has been acting up for awhile now. Any ideas? Or maybe it's overfilled?

Fan clutch. check pressure and see but I bet the High side pressure is spiking high when your not moving. Its amazing how fast the High side will come down when the fan clutch kicks in or you start driving. I'm talking seconds it will go from 325-35- down to 200 once the condenser gets air moving acrossed it.

I checkedpressure at idle over 100!! Holy shot! The shop that did my head studs said they charged it they said it was low. I still think the fan clutch has some part of thisbecause some mornings it it doesn't shut off until 40 or so

High side at hot idle should be 2-250psi. If it's only 100 you're low and have a leak

Over 100 on the low side or high side? That's low for the high side. And extremely high for the high side but only knowing one side is just half the story

I was always told by the old timers 250 was on the upper end for hot idle hot day. But my a/c knowledge is limited and I don't have any formal training in it

Na, in 100* heat and no fan going, you can see even higher but depending on vehicle, it can vary from 200-350 on a hot day.

I'm sure I was checking the low pressure side. I just brought my guage down to where it said it was charged and it now works a lot better. So I don't know but I'm happy with it

Low side pressure is ambient temperature dependant as well. Weight is the best way.

I assume that's with the compressor running. Glad it works now! I fixed an intermittent a/c problem in my truck today. Turned out to be a loose relay terminal.

The size for the fan clutch is air chisel. Unless you have the tool to hold it. Even a chisel and hammer works great.

Doing a stock replacement or a Kodiak / Hayden?
