Noticed the ac wasn't blowing very cold so I started investigating. The compressor clutch was not engaging. I hooked up a gauge to the ac port closest to the firewall, and it was in the red. I was able to bleed off the pressure till it was in the proper range, and clutch still never engaged. Is it safe to assume I'm going to need a new compressor?

1st off, you made a HUGE mistake bleeding off pressure. You only check low side pressure with the compressor running. Now theres not enough gas in it to work. As to the initial problem, it could be a bad low pressure switch(fairly common problem), bad relay, another pressure switch in the system has failed, bad ambient air temp sensor if it has one, it could even be you had a tune flashed in with the wrong operating system, and so much more. You need to diagnose the system, not guess at it.

I tested the low pressure switch before and after. Didn't work either time. Also tested the relays.

Update, I found that the climate control pressure transducer switch was broke. Will be relaxing tomorrow. Hopefully that is the problem.
