I have an 07 LMM Duramax that needs new glow plugs and fuel filter. Have been reading up on what's good to use.

I am picking up a set of AC Delco 9g glow plugs and in my search, I found an adapter kit for the fuel filter to run a CAT 2micron filter. I was wondering if anyone had used this before? Kit is https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01B...uel+filter&dpPl=1&dpID=41WrdBCcYrL&ref=plSrch

Ant advantage with this over a replacement AC Delco fuel filter?

Thanks

Never used that adapter in particular (most people seem to use the Nicktane adapter), but running the CAT filter is an improvement over the ACDelco filter. The ACDelco filter is a 10 micron filter (IIRC), while the CAT filter is 2 micron. You do lose the water in fuel (WIF) indicator, but that pretty much never happens. There has even been some speculation that the WIF sensor doesn't actually work until your fuel is mostly water anyway.

It is a good idea to have a water separator somewhere in line before the CAT filter, such as at the lift pump. I don't know that I would swap to the CAT filter without running a lift pump with a water separator as well.

The acdelco filter is way better than 10micron now but the cat filter is still better minus the water separator.

Depends on which CAT filter you use and correct neither have water removal. A lot of companies still post the IR-0750 as a 2 micron filter which it is not.

See page 11 for CAT filter ratings.

IR-0750 is Advanced Efficiency rated at 5-10 um absolute

364-5287 and the 306-9199 are Ultra High Efficiency rated at <4um

The ACDelco is no longer supplied by Parker/Racor as of a new ACDelco filter number couple years ago, DieselPlace website is not cooperating so I can't post the link for the changes. You're best bet is the Parker/Racor on the stock filter head, has everything you need.

Parker/Racor PFF50216

I use the Nicktane with a Donaldson P553203, it has water separation and flows 90gph as opposed to the stock one at 50gph. Less fuel starvation when I put my foot in it, used to drain the rails till I switched to the Donaldson/Nicktane setup..

I run adaptor with donaldson 553207. 3 micron with water seperator. Actually has a flow rating unlike most filters.

So since I'm currently running a stock LMM, it best to just stick with the stock type screw on filter like AC Delco?

I'm planning on doing exhaust, intake, efiLive tune and egr delete, and airdog 4g this winter.

Does the airdog in essence eliminate the stock setup?

I'm asking mainly because if I'm going the airdog route this winter, I don't want to spend $ on a different than stock setup now. Lol
