98' HVAC controls toasted

Anyone aware of any known issues on the 90's chevy 1500 blower controls and temp controls going bad? got a call today form a guy that said he replaced his and less then a year ago the temp control an the fan switch went out, first time was just the blower control? any help would be good.

the late 90's had some blower motor resistor problems. pay close attention to the ground wire in the blower motor resistor connector it may be melted.may sound stupid but you may want to check your amp draw on the blower motor. ive chased that before

That's exactly what I told the guy, what amp's should they draw? would that take out the temp control also though?

Yes, they are very problematic. Theres an article out there somewhere on the web(a hummer site I think) that has info on doing some repairs and upgrades on the 96-00 style. By 98 GM had moved the ground out of the blower plug, but make sure the ground is good to the blower because it is also the ground for the mode doors.
