Anybody else run into troubles mounting their GT42 or GT40?

I sure did. The included hardware is 7/16 (.4375). But the holes on my turbos are .435. I guessing that the turbo was designed to mount with 10mm hardware. Also 7/16 are big and have to be wrenched with an open end wench instead of a box end. I drilled one of my 1.05 housings to fit but I think I might just go get some 10mm or 3/8" hardware. As I can see some turbo whoring in my future.

I didnt have a problem with the bolts not fiting the holes, The only problem i had was that the bolts i got were to short.

Yeah, I wasn't too impressed that they didn't even send the right hardware with Caleb's. IMO they should tap the pedastal or put studs in it or something to make life a little easier if you are removing / re-installing the charger.

I take it things are getting close to being done John?

Bolts where long enough. I guess I should say my turbos did not come from PPE. They are both GT42 based. PPE may ream out the holes to fit better in there kits I dont know. Even if the do the hex is still to big for a box end wrench.:( So I got some 10mm grade bolts coming.

I getting close but really don't like to say it. This build has had alot of set backs so far. Thing look good but they have before. We will see. If things go awesome I hope to be stinking up the show at Mercer, PA.

10 mm works great. 12point nut probably would have worked. Just did not think of that.

No twin. Atleast not on the LB7. I have two GT42s. Both jornal bearing. One is stock the other with a bigger comp wheel housing just in case. I bought both turbo for less than what one GT42R Ball bearing costed
triple turbos, he's adding two more.

I am stacking them. They all run on one shaft.

I had to helicoil them down to 10mm and use flange nuts. 7/16 is TFB.

PS - There are "stepped studs" available that are necked down. Try McMaster-Carr?

I helicoiled so that I had all metric and smaller nut hexes so I can swap chargers faster.
