LB7: 6th gear kit or new tranny?

So I have an 03 Duramax with the LB7 5 speed. Im looking to either get the 5 to 6 gear kit or a new tranny, doesn't necessarily need to be built. Im mostly wanting the 6th gear due to highway driving. Mods- six-gun tuner, full bore exhaust manifold, leveling kit with 33's.
I need advice guys, I know the kit is around 2K + installation.
btw im in southern California so if anyone knows of a good tranny seller or shop I'd appreciate the shoutout.

Stick with 5spd and get it built

A 6 speed trans won't give you 6 gears...your 5 speed is a 6 speed..with only 5 gears allowed in the tcm and valve body.

How much money do you want to throw at it?

A 5-6 speed conversion is going to be a lot cheaper than a transmission built to handle more power.

3.42 gears will get you roughly the same overall OD ratio, without spending the $$$ on a 5-6 speed conversion.

You have a banks tuner and 33" tires... Fix those problems first of you want better mileage.
