Wherever I am working
Guys, at the drags this past weekend I had a 1.74 60' time but only yielded an 8.14 at 87 and a 12.95 at 102. Is this a good, or at least decent, 60'? I know the other times are not great, but I'm limited by poor tuning and stock trans.

I can't find my other slips as I have relocated a couple of times since last summer, so I have nothing to compare with. This time I used limiting straps (chains) on the front and boosted to 12, 15, 17, and 20 lbs. my best 60' was at 15lbs. on street tires. No hop at any boost, it just equated a bit and took off. The higher boost just caused excessive tire spin.

1.74 is very good, tires and track prep makes or breaks the 60' in our trucks. I use to cut 1.70's on the stock 245 RPO rims on my LBZ.

depends how the truck is set up but i think a reg cab can cut much better 60s than that.

i mean even my fully dressed cc/sb on street tires will but low 1.6s

Sick diesel, what do you launch at for boost? And how much tire pressure?

Stock everything including converter, and transmission with a transgo jr. Regular ole shocks from Napa, spring clamps, lowered tbars, 30lbs air in front tires, 26lbs. rear.

265/75/16 Mastercraft CTs that absolutely suck for traction. Nothing fancy! :)

A 1.70 isn't horrible for a 60' IMHO. These ppl that are cutting 1.5's and lower are on slicks I would assume. I think a 1.6 on street tires is hard as hell to achieve.

Why is everyone strapping the front end. Let it do it's thing. Your 60 should be low 1.6's

I strapped it down on recommendation from IdahoRob a long time ago. I haven't used pitman/idler braces only because money was tight til now. The way this worked out for me this time is no hop and very little torque steer. Like I said, even at 20lbs boost it didn't hop.

My best run was 1.71 60' 8.0 1/8th and that got me a 12.65 @ 105, with your 1/8th mile @ 8.1 you should be faster, but you said its a stock trans......

1.71 is my best too, majority of 60fts were mid 1.7s-1.8

I think some trucks just hook better than others regardless of the tires, being able to launch at higher boost seems to help knock the time down too

I've left at 12-15lbs and can get low 1.6's

best is 1.62 on pyo's and 265 bfg's. most are 1.64-1.66 tho. that was on a diet as well. not sure what times it will run at full weight but i cant imagine it will be any better.

I think tire pressure and track prep plays a huge roll.
