6 speed range shift inhibited P0700

Today, it was a chilly 28°F and I tried to leave the house in my 06. Didn't let it warm up, was just going to drive slowly for 3-4 miles to warm everything up. Trans has trango Jr. It went into range shift inhibited inside of 1/8th mile and I lost all power to the trans. Only code was a P0700. Coasted into a field, cleared code and idled back the the shop. Truck only gets driven once a month...maybe.

Any ideas?

you need a better code reader to pull the codes from the TCM. P0700 is just the TCM telling the ECM to turn on the CEL as something is wrong. the ECM doesn't have any other codes for the transmission so you need to pull them from the TCM.

Check fluid level. I bet it is low

Fluid isn't low. Cold it is toward the upper limit when cold

Then it could also be a sticking valve, such as the e-shift valve.
