Allison 6sp: 6 speed 2wd to 4wd convertion with 5 speed parts

I need to make a 2wd 6 speed alli into a 4wd. I have a 5 speed, can I just use the tail and output shaft? I want to figure this out before I tear it down.

You must use the 6 speed planet.

BTW, I'm swapping an LBZ/ 6 speed into my 03, my truck is a 4wd the donor is 2wd.

Check cooler fittings. The 2wd planet will work in the 4X4 housing but you better check end play. If it's too tight you will lose a trans in a couple of hundred miles.

Thanks Mike. I plan to just swap the coolers with the engine/trans.
