6 spd into LB7, not expecting 6th gear!

Hello all,

I have been trolling this site for sometime and finally have a viable question to ask.

The 5 spd in my LB7 was just shelled by my business partner and as the resident mechanic I am now in charge of getting this fixed. My old man happens to have a 6 spd out of his 1st wrecked 08 Duramax that I can get for next to nothing (hard manual labor under his supervision, yay!)

I am quite aware that without the Suncoast TCM I will not be able to have 6th gear but that doesnt bother me, 5 has treated us quite well for quite sometime. I cannot stand the thought of using my pretty little weekend truck (08 Sierra Denali) to haul men and materials back and forth to the jobsite so I need to get the beast back on the tarmac asap.

From my research so far I have been told the following needs to be swapped: valve body, NSBU Switch, wiring harness, and bellhousing due to a speed sensor the 5 spd has that the 6 spd does not. If anyone can tell me if this is a comprehensive list that would be much appreciated, or if this is completely unfathomable, though heartbraking, would also be appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time for any help,
Brian Wood
