6 gun egt questions

So I just picked up a banks 6 gun with IQ, but it didn't come with an egt probe and banks customer service seems to be all but useless unless you are the original purchaser.
My question is will a standard "k-type" probe work or will a need a probe with a banks specific amplifier?

I don't know which one you have, there are a few different generations of the 6-gun. My original one from 2005 seemed to be a k type thermocouple, but there was a special connector that mated the probe to the box. You should just be able to order a new probe from Banks. They may be funny if they thing you are trying to mix and match parts with their stuff.

Banks is a lot of things, but I have always had really good customer service from them if you can handle the pricing....

Their customer service might be ok... But they ask that you only call for technical support if you are the original purchaser, otherwise they ask that you email them, which I have. My guess is they get hundreds of questions a day and I understand that it's not always easy to give a swift response. But I'm sure you can understand my frustration, new toy and I can't hook it up! Haha. Every replacement "banks probe" I've seen on eBay or elsewhere (I wish banks listed replacement parts on their site) has been labeled "k-type" and instructions are to splice into the banks system... No mention of directly into the harness or into existing probe wires pre amp (if there is one)

So I hooked everything up else up just so when I get the EGT probe I can drill/tap, click, and go. With the truck running and NO EGT connection, the system reads an EGT of 1625 and sets off the "High temp" alarm... is this normal? I figured it would just sense that there was no sensor and disable the tune adjustments
Still no reply from Banks via e-mail. I will call their sales tomorrow.
