I dont know anything about these trucks but my buddy has one thats in limp mode with a p242f code (Diesel particulate filter ash accumulation) It's a 08 3500 dually with a Edge programmer. He would like to make the necessary deletes. My question is what is the best route? Will my V2 be able to install the tuning necessary to remove DPF, EGR codes (AKA) limp mode? What are his option's? Of course it is for off road purposes only.. Thank's in advance :thumb:

You'll have to purchase the Cummins tuning option, but your V2 will work. Other than that, you can find an old H&S race tuner or a Smarty. There are several options for the EGR delete kits. I like the ones that also delete the cooler (they suck more to install, but they clean it up under the hood a lot better). For the exhaust, I would get something that also deletes the cat in the downpipe.

I have sinister egr and cooler delete on mine. 5" flopro exhaust. They're easy to delete. I have the H&S Black Maxx on mine, and ran smarty jr. before too. Lots of options

How much fun did you have getting that H&S boost tube to line up? Lol I had that tube on my old 2010 dually and blew it out of the intercooler boot numerous times, I decided to scrap the damn thing and went with GDP, much much much better design and fitment. All H&S stuff is great, besides the intake horn and boost tube lol. I wonder if they make em any better yet?:roflmao:

I've never had anyone ive installed pop wonder if yours was made wrong and the angles were off? and the gdp intake really doesn't improve much that injector line makes a bitch no matter what

I had one of the very first boost tubes they made for the 4th gens, they didn't have the second bend in it like the stock tube, didn't fit worth crap, and I didn't want to wait any longer after it kept blowing off so I went with the GDP setup. Sold my H&S intake horn and threw the boost tube in the garbage lol

Ok, update and new question.. My V2 is the older BLK unit so it is not able to be updated like the newer (Blue) units to work with a cummins.. So I opted to purchase a autocal from ATP with a tow tune, mileage/DD tune, and a race tune. The DPF and Cat are deleted but the EGR is still there. The truck is now out of limp mode and run's good (For a Dodge);) But for whatever reason the over head message is still displaying a reduced power code. There are no codes in the ECM and the check engine light is off. Does he have to have the dealer re-set the overhead display? Or is there another way to do it?

FYI, the black V2 can tune a Cummins. I know because I have one. You just can't tune an 05 or older Cummins (which isn't even supported yet).

Did you shim the rail plug yet? Mine would do that to me all the time, and found it was the rail plug blowing off. Shimmed it, and haven't had a problem since...
Not saying that's what's definitely wrong with yours, but something to look at :)

That 6.7 I had in my work truck was a VERY good running, quiet engine and honestly the best driving, most powerful truck I've ever driven at UPS. Paired with the Allison 6 spd was an excellent combination. If I could've only deleted that damn DPF and EGR Id still be driving it and been very very happy. I just couldnt keep breathing in exhaust fumes every 50 miles.

News to me:thumb: I was told twice if it was not the blue housing it was a NO go:confused:....

The black V2 doesn't have the proper hardware to support the older Cummins. But, it will tune the newer Can bus models. You just have the buy the Cummins tuning option.

yep! diesel catalyst full, service required... had no idea!

threw in a rail plug, tried again, no more issues.. then i went ahead and threw in the shim kit, and under a lot of abuse, i made it throw the codes again, so i knew where it could go, and where i needed to back off...

On another note apparently the over head display is in fact tied into the ECM but EFI has yet to figure out how to control it completely on the 6.7's.. Not a huge deal but kinda of a pita that you get a beep every few hrs and the service light stays on even though it does not register in the actually ECM. If that makes sense?
