I sold a 1995 6.5 gm diesel a few years ago to a neighbor. The guy drives it about 100 miles a week average, and it has been running fine. This morning while i was on a job,he called me and said the truck rpm shot up and then it died. So,i just got home,i tried to crank it. The first try,i cranked for about 6-7 seconds and no start. The second time it cranked up,and just started puking large amounts of white and black smoke. As it was puking smoke the rpm shot up and the truck died. Re cranked it and it did the same thing. I know it's a long shot but maybe someone knows something about these old trucks. Thanks for any information in advanced.

Check fuel supply pressure. Weak supply pressure and air bubbles in the inj pump will make it go ape shit

The black box is a FSD aka PMD. It causes all kinds of issues, and is the one part no 6.5er with a ds4 pump should not have a spare of. It can do this. Being a 95, it also has the poorly designed fuel pump power system where it is powered solely off the oil pressure switch, and really needs a relay added in to control the actual power to the fuel pump. Fuel pressure needs to be at least 4-5 psi on it, and you can test it at the water drain port on the front of the engine. From the sounds of it revving, massive smoke, and stalling, I wouldn't be surprised to find the fuel solenoid hasn't failed or had the screw break off inside of it.
