i wonder if you could put a ford 5r110 trans behind a dmax? ive come to the conclusion that the allison is junk, and i would love to have a duraflite but
12g's is a little high. i can get my hands on a torqueshift pretty cheap. what would it take to do it?

I don't believe that for a second !

X2. Build it right and tune it right and I believe they will hold up just fine. It's been proven already they will hold at the high hp with the right stuff.

Ally!!!!

I'm not so sure on it being all that. When you make 50 passes let me know. I had no trouble when I was running mid to high tens. Now I step it up and it doesn't look so good. Yours(trent) being lite will help but time will tell. I can't afford to take chances on maybe's. I hope i'm wrong. Jeff

Funny how a lot of people thought it was tuning when Buck and Jess were trashing Allisons left and right...

Ya time will tell Jeff so far about 10 passes on mine along with 10-15 street runs , so far mine and Dimitri's trucks appear are holding , he is alot heavier ( 6800) than me but so far 10 passes @ 130-135 mph , his new setup just jumped alot in HP though so we will def be pushing the limits and will keep every one updated on the progress we can make , i can say we have not lostg a head part yet ,but with the old build lost the C-2's , it sucks to lose a trans but clutches are far easier to replace than planets .

remember this too Bucks truck was going faster than any full size Duramax was so a lack of parts and a lack of knowledge was also part of it. There is no doubt that the 47 and 48RE's can out perform the Allison to a certain degree but the last 3 times my buddy Drakes truck has been to the track it breaks the trans within the first few passes so don't think the Dureflite is the end all be all... Most likely Trents approach with the truck being 5500lbs is the golden ticket.

Jay's truck weighs 7200+ and had street miles, dyno runs, and dozens of passes at 1000+hp, and didnt even have a converter problem. being lighter helps for sure, but i think that as long as your trans build and tuning work together, you're set. it has been proven:thumb:

Tell me this ? whats the biggest hassle of a trans failing ? Its yanking the stupid thing out , and the cost associated with the failure . So with that in mind I can almost bet good money that an Allison can last the 25 passes in any truck when built properly , that is all it would have to do to stay in the truck the same amount of time as the Duraflite , because of having to change a torque converter every 25 passes in the duraflight equipped Duramax's , JMHOP and I am not saying any one who switched to the duraflite is foolish , it is def a viable option for a race only truck , its just $$ is all for still having problems associated with it .
