LBZ: 5mm keystock

Is any old key stock good to use on cam? Where is everyone getting it? I need 5x8mm actual current key is 4.75mm square, so that much undersized is fine

I have reused mine 3 times with no problems and the cam key was undersized as yours is,any auto machine shop should have some stock though.

Well my cam is 5mm true. It's a nominal key. But I need a rectangle key instead of the square to keep the key seated in the cam

Gotcha...ran into the same issue with the last motor.Ended up steeling a key from somthing else and file fit with no probs but no way id do that again.

Dont get me wrong...it worked in a pinch and worked well.

Make sure you get strong stuff, I've seen it start to sheer cheap

Ive seen some sites advertise 70, 80k shear shear strength. But that's not in my size.... It worst comes to worst I will just put some shims of some sort over to of it to keep centrifics from forcing it out of the cam lol
