How well do y'all think the 4l80e will handle 5 ton running gear and 54 inch tires. The gear ratio is 6.44's and I'm unsure of the gear ratio in the transfer case. I do no the transfer case is a regular 5 ton case. I'm looking at making 4- 500 hp on a 383. what will need to be build in the tranny for it to handle this kinda power

You do realize how much power it takes to spin that transfer, the axles are no easy task either. The transfer case's on 5 tons and duece and a halfs are air actuated and weigh about 250 pound for the non winch transfers.

Yes sir i do relize it takes some power to turn that transfer case over. Im not really looking to make a race truck. I just want something i can play in the mud and do tugs with. Thanks for all the info guys:thumb:

1 more question tranny temp on a stock 4l80 e where should my tranny temp run? And at what point should i turn it off to let it cool down. I need to hook a gauge up in my truck before i start taking it out and just don't wanna burn the trans out of it. Is there any brand of tranny cooler that is the best that i should look into buying to keep the built tranny alive when i buy it??

Thanks again guys for the tips

Thats cool just right down the road from me. You go to any mudholes. Like redneck yatch club

the kelly brothers that own RYC are from my town. currently all the the local mudholes are frowned upon like masturbating on an airplane. but there is a petition to get a county owned mudhole opened in port charlotte/cape coral.
