Truck Needs Oil Changed Anyway, I Know i need a allison spin on and not lose magnet, what fluid should i be running, dont want to use amsoil as converter is still full of stock fluid.
You can mix the amsoil (did it before rebuild). When changing to amsoil, drain pan, pull filter, and I drained the lines and cooler by pulling lines at transmission.
If you want to do a full flush, try the HOOT method. Takes about 5 gallons (going from memory). I just changed my oil at 5k intervals for about 15k to get as much of the old oil out and amsoil in.
you do whats called hoot flush and get the fluid out the convertor just take the line off at transmission than flow into the trans from the cooler. u can just use a big wrench or jiffy type AC connector clip. but if its original fluid that came in the truck the day it was new then it should be fully synthetic trans syndyne in it.
if your really wanting to save some money you can use semi-synthetic like Dextron III Valvoline max life is $16 a gallon at autozone. im running that right now because im going to rebuild it soon and dont care. but it does run fine just need to change it though at bout half time sooner than full synthetic fluid. i know allison trans tech which said its fine to run just need to change it sooner. im no pro just know what works for me and here from experienced ppl.
