Hopefully this is the right place to post this issue..if not please move it to the proper location....This past weekend I was at the deer lease and switched my truck to 4wd or at least I thought I did...the light was on but the front differential never engaged. Tried it on both 4WD hi and lo but nothing happened...result was had to use a tractor to pull it outta the mud. I looked at my fuses but wasn't able to identify the fuse for the 4wd..has anyone ever seen this before?

It might be the front diff solenoid. Had one go out on my old 2500HD. 4wdhi light would come on but it wasnt locking in.

Switch it into 4WD and drive it a few feet. Put it in park and jack up one of the front wheels. Try turning the driveshaft, if it turns the front wheel that is off the ground then the transfer case isn't engaging. If the driveshaft won't turn then the transfer case is engaged. If that is the case then try and turn the tire that is off the ground, if it turns then the front actuator isn't working. If it doesn't turn then it is in 4WD.

Problem found.....started hearing a grinding noise when backing up in front left wheel area..didnt make the noise when going forward..took it to the dealer and he said the front end was "shot"...warranty covered it but I had to pay to have lift removed and reinstalled after front end was replaced.
