I am having some issues with 4L60E in my 2000 Silverado. It is not displaying the gear indicator properly and there are no CEL codes. Reverse, Neutral and 1st are the only positions that display properly but the truck doesn't move.

I am guessing part of it is the nsbu switch but am thinking something else is going on as well. Any help would be great.

The gear indicator is run solely off of the NSBU for the 4L60E in that era. When you change it, make sure the shaft is deburred before you put the new one on. Just like the ALLISON, it will gouge the inside of it on installation if you don't deburr the shaft, and then it will be as useless as a bad one.

Although the switch is exactly the same as the Allison except for sealing; the switch only serves as a neutral switch unlike the Allison. It will not cause a no move situation.

Mike what is your suggestion for a rebuild kit I might as well do it while it out. I would like to haul heavy loads and maybe a truck pull or two.

Alright looks like I will be dropping the transmission to have it looked into. Thank you guys very much!

Check the splines in the converter at the bottom. Shine a flashlight and look at the upper part of the splines and see if they are stripped out. Bottom half of the turbine spline never get hurt as the input shaft never reaches that far when the converter is mounted.

Not sure about the kit, but a transgo hd2 is a start and sonax pinless pistons (forward and 2-3) along with aluminum pistons (for the 1-2). Also a hardened separator plate and plastic check balls, because I bet yours will have worn spots or a stuck check ball. Also factory vette servo.

I've put in the TRANSGO seperator plates and ran the stock check balls, and after 50K miles they still looked good. If you go with the torlon check balls, it's am atter of time before they get worn and go through the seperator plate is what I was told by a VERY reputeable trans shop, and he STRONGLY advised against me even thinking of ordering them after the troubles he said he encountered with them.

Wow, never heard of that, but have seen the metal ones stuck in a separator plate. Good thing I got rid of that truck with 15k miles on it and 6 years old. I should tell the person I sold it to, he might want to change them out.

Well after messing around with it to see what the problem is I've decided to just get a used transmission. I believe the one currently in the truck is missing parts as it will roll freely when in park. so it's at least missing the parking paw. I have found some cheap enough so that is my plan.
