Did you go from stock injectors and turbo to 100 overs and s400? Thats probably your problem with smoke... Might want to start thinking about playing with the tcm to raise shift points too.
The 87mm turbine spools faster than the 83 turbine in every aspect in my opinion. The 87 weighs less and has a much better profile to it, the 83 turbine is a dinosaur. You would be pleasantly surprised with the difference if you made the switch; of course you wont really notice any change until you get re tuned.
Torque Converter also plays a huge role in the daily driving smoke issue. Dustin (I assume) can only do so much to clean up smoke with the converter that is in the truck. That 1056 is not a good converter for this charger it is too tight, you need something looser that couples well at part throttle. Most like the 1053-1 or a lot of happy campers with the MLG-K (Goerend).
