Short if the long is this: spun a bearing in my 350, rather than spend $1000 to rebuild that motor I found a 454 that after opening up I found to be .040 over and 010/010 mains/rods leading me to believe I had found a jasper reman motor. Upon pulling this motor apart I found some rust in cylinders and heads were junk(exhaust valves beat the seats backwards). So I took to a rebuild. Pulled it all the way down, had crank polished, picked up a better set of oval ports(781 casting), comp extreme 4x4 hydraulic cam and lifters, comp double roller timing set, air gap intake, new rod and main bearings. I need to find a set of roller tips cheap and also a set of push rods. But it's going back together nicely. 112 more cubic inch's oughta be awesome.

I checked my measurements with comp ratio calculator and with everything I have with those heads I should be around 8.5:1 which is perfect for my pump gas.

My cam is a touch bigger. .544/.564 lift 270/278 duration yeah it will probly be a pain in the ass to to start but I'm going to put a block heater on it so that should help a little.

Gonna pull a freeze plug and throw a block heater in it. I ordered a kats 44.5 mm 400 watt freeze plug heater on amazon. The color is Massey ferguson grey. Had to buy a new set of pushrods so I went with 3/8 crower 1 piece rods.

Stopped at napa today and picked up a new harmonic dampner. Intake bolted on, valve covers painted, motor mounts and alt brackets are getting blasted and cleaned. Should be just about done this week minus a set of headers and new belts.

When will it be back in the truck? I'd like to hear it run. I will always love the sound of a proper v8

Hopefully sooner than later! We are gonna be getting some snow tomorrow worthy of a plow. I'll video the start up and some break in when it goes down. I think it's gonna be pretty lopey at idle with that cam. First though I gotta pull a 5 spd with a cracked adapter housing and re clutch it and throw in a transgo and pump rub kit the tcase. After I get that done it's going in!

well I have kind of decided that putting this motor in my plow truck is really stupid! my plow truck needs way to much work for it to make sense to put this motor in it. So now I have a Big block sitting in the shop that needs a new home! FML smh.........
