Since I have the turbo off my truck its pretty easy to get the y bridge off. The pass side intercooler pipe on a lb7 is 3" until the end where it goes down to 2.5". If I would cut that off I could weld a ridge around the pipe so I could put a 3" boot on it. For the y bridge I could get a piece of 3" OD .125 wall aluminum tubing and have it welded on the y bridge where the 2.5 was. I would then just have to find a 3" boot and clamps. Anyone see any problems with this or have any pointers? I was going to wait to do it but it would only make sense to do it while I have the turbo out.

youll lose your intake heater to obviously but thats not a huge deal.
i plan on doing this to mine as well.
where is a good place for the map sensor to be relocated to, or just mount it on the new peice of tube?

you going to go with an angled tube or a hose with a bend?
have to do something with the MAP sensor
I'm not sure if all 01 trucks are the same, but I worked on an early 01 a few months back that had the MAP sensor mounted in one of the intake manifolds (the piece that bolts to the head) rather than in the bridge.

I needed a boot to replace the factory boot at the hot side of the CAC. After doing some looking, I ended up getting what I needed from here: http://www.siliconehose.com. I bought a 45 and a 90 because I wasn't sure which one would work better. I ended up using the 90, and it has held up flawlessly. The boots are 5 ply with 10" legs. I cut the legs on the 90 to the correct length, and had two straight pieces long enough to make two other straight boots. Anyway, I still have the 45 sitting in a box. I paid around $45 for it, I would let it go for $35 shipped if you want it.

the 01 was a freak all the other lb7's had it in the bridge. 01 also has a different bridge.

Hey Josh i will let you know im aiming at trying to use a 45. My MAP sensor is not in the intake bridge like stated. It is in the manifold so thats one less thing i have to worry about. Before i cut the bridge up im going to take my driverside intercooler pipe and try to make that work. If not i will get a peice of 3" pipe.
