There are several real interesting engines out there that amaze me with the way they are timed to make things happen.

I think at one time I saw something similar to the opposed piston but there were 3 pistons in the bore. The 3rd piston just "floated" in there and controlled the inlet and outlet ports on the cylinders to make it act like a 4 stroke.
