Has anyone had problems with the 2X2 receiver enlarging and getting sloppy? Chevy replaced mine NO CHARGE after 35,000 mi. Of which 20,000 mi was hauling a 12,000 lb load using a properly adjusted weight distributing hitch. Chevy won't put on a 2.5X.2.5 receiver as they said it would violate policy and law. <GRIN>. At 55,000 mi with an additional 10,000 mi hauling it is doing it again. Looks like the metal of the receiver might be soft. I've hauled for 35 years and never had this problem, all using Chevy Trucks.

What Policy and law? Fords come from the factory with a 2-1/2" receiver.

I probably didn't make it clear. The zone GM REP said that would change the design of the trunk and GM couldn't do that with resubmission to the FED's. Funny how after market suppliers will mount it righht on to the chassis. I know it was just a ploy not to do it. I even offered to pay the difference an sigh a wavier for future hitch problems.

just get a putnam or tow beast and never worry again. i've put some scary weights on my tow beast with no signs of stress on the frame or hitch.
