I'm looking to installing a tuner but I do not want to void the warranty ! If possible? I really do not know much about them but I do know the make power when towing and save fuel!

You can tune it without voiding the warranty. The factory warranty specifically says the aftermarket equipment or vehicle alterations has to be proven they are the at fault item to not have to fulfill their warranty obligations. The dealer that mine came from doesn't have a problem doing warranty work even with deletes. That most likely is the norm but they are fine with it.

That's a good dealer. I remember 2009 era they were plentiful like that around here. Then they all locked down! Hopefully ours have eased back up in the last few years but I wouldn't know

GM has not eased up on the warranty voiding. If it's a simple item power steering, ac, power seats little stuff there ok. But if it's a motor, transmission, transfer case they have to read the Ecm data and drive train warranty will be voided.

They may be doing it that way but that is in contradiction to their on written warranty statement. I'm sure GM would loose in the courts without proving your modifications caused the failure.

Thats a chance you would take they pay there lawyers if there working or not. Once they show you tuned it with a aftermarket program other then what they installed. When signing the contract buying a car or truck it's in small print that you will not make any modifications to the vehicle.

I don't think I would be going to court to argue that my illegal modifications didn't cause a failure to my truck.

I can see it all now in federal court...

He asked about tuning one not deleting one. Where is it illegal to tune one and not delete emissions. It's possible to even get it better than oem. I did mine because I feel the benefits out weigh the negatives if it came down to it.

I was having issues with my 2011 1/2 ton a few years ago. It had an airaid intake tube that still used the factory air box and filter and a diablosport tuner. i removed the tuner as soon as the issue started to rule that out. The dealer still refused to even diagnose the truck until I removed the intake tube. Then they told me it needed piston rings because the intake allowed dirt into the motor thru the factory filter but agreed to do it under warranty anyway. After tearing the heads off they said it wasn't the rings. Put it all back together and called in a gm specialist who said the ecm was shot as a result of the tuner. I claimed the ecm probably was damaged a few months earlier when the whole fuse box had to be replaced because of a short. They eventually agreed to cover everything on warranty. They did also try to claim the reason the fuse box shorted was I submerged the truck. Anything they can do to dodge a warranty claim. I had similar issues with a bone stock pos lemon 2011 buick I bought brand new for my wife. They will point the finger at anyone but themselves.
