Kenwood announced their new models for 2011. The DNX9980HD is the newest flagship unit. My most impressed part of the OBD-II Features allowing users to read certain engine parameters and read/clear trouble codes. It's going to be interesting to see if certain features or PID's can be programmed along with how it's going to work with a diesel.

I've been wanting for a long time to be able to add OBD-II Info to the headunit, but for EFILive to work you need a computer to add to the system. Hopefully Kenwood does this right, but I'm not betting on it.

It will be a tuff choice between this and the new Pioneer and Sony units. Which Sony uses TomTom for their dedicated nav guidance.

On Edit: I don't know why the forum software keeps shorting that link... You'll have to copy and paste what I have in quotation marks.

Thanks for posting, I've been looking at the Kenwoods for a long time, I think the Garmin wilderness maps are great. OBD II would be awesome for clearing PO700s these days

The link didn't work for me and I'm searching around Kenwood now for a manual to download...

I wasn't a fan for the integrated nav DNXs, the DDXs are awesome though.

What didn't you like about the DNX's? I was pretty serious about the 6160. (Then I met Trent) Hope to have something this spring though.

With then using the TOM Tom my choice would be clear & i would get the Kenwood because there is no better than the Garmin Navigation.

9960 right?

That is the 2010 model, but from what I'm reading it's not that much different. That's a good price too.

the kenwood I installed was a ddx814, a few years ago, it was way less prone to glitching then and had more options than a DNX of the same year. I really want a DDX896 with a KNA-610 nav unit for my truck, but it has to compete, and hard parts cost a lot:eek:

yea it is the 9960, i am going to get it now, they have the adaptor for the onstar and it is only 105 more, i think i might wire that in cause when i drive wayyyy out in the desert my cell will not work but that onstar phone works anywear so i think it is worth it so when i tag a huge bull elk with my truck i can call for somebody to bring me a good knife to cut out tender loins (and a tow truck) :D

for the small accessories definetley go through amazon or something. they are cheap there. the remote is a must have and the ipod adapter and the steering wheel control.
.......shit, all that small crap really adds up:mad:
for the price on these decks youd think it would be included

i agree all is sweet except i grounded the parking break wire so i can run dvds while on the go and it still wont let me, 2 diff installers said kenwood is easy, just ground out the wire, hell it shares the same ground as the entire unit now and it still stops me, any ideas?

In my DNX 9140, you could ground a wire and it was disabled.

I agree about the accessories, it adds up to another ~$250 dollars after it's all said and done.
