So I have a problem with my fuel gauge that started a couple of day ago. I was filling up at the pump when my guage got stuck on 3/4 tank. I turned the truck off and back on and it seems to fix it. Well since then it will slowly fall to a 1/4 tank back to 3/4 even though I have a full tank. From the research I've done I can't seem to find much on this for the lml engine. It seems like it could be the stepper motor behind the guage or the fuel level sensor. Any thoughts before I tear into this truck? I really hope it isn't in the dash. Looks like a mother to work on.

I just ordered the fuel level sensor. Gonna throw that in there and if it doesn't fix the problem then I'm assuming it will probably be the gauge itself.

My lmm did this to me and finally I got annoyed enough and had to replace the sending unit inside the tank. The mechanic told me they level sensor/sending unit / pain the ass slides up and down in the tank on two plastic rails/poles well one of mine had fallen off inside the tank and my gage was all over the place till I fixed it. So it's not your gauge I would bet it's in the tank issue. It's somewhat common with lmm is what I found out. I drove it like that forever till I fixed it.

I'd almost bet anything it's your sending unit. Same thing happened to me. One of the rails it slides up and down on fell off in my tanks.

Bring this back up as I'm having similar issues. When I fill up my gauge gets to about half a tank and then takes about 40 miles to slowly creep up to full. Cycling the key changes nothing. Gauge works fine going from full to empty. Thoughts?
