Here's what I'm into.I bought a 2010 Duramax with 3,000 miles on it,that had went for a swim. The motor will not bar over,i've got the tranny out of it an i'm using a flywheel turner. Here is my question. Is there anyway short of pulling the heads to purge the water out of the cylinders, like some how holding the valves open or pulling out the glow plugs? I'm working on trying to find out the original owner to find out if it took in water when it was running or parked..

Wendy (2006 LBZ) took water into 6 out of 8 cylinders, and it was probably running.

Without taking off the heads, it's running great today.

However, if you bought a truck that was water damaged, it probably sat a LONG time. Rings will fuse into the pistons after a while, and will rust into the bore.

Pull all glowplugs and try to rotate. If no dice, it doesn't look good, and should probably be torn down. Even if it does rotate, if it shows poor compression, the rings are probably stuck.
