As far as diesel "points" drag competition goes, what would you like to see for 2009.

My list:

Heads-up "Work Stock" class. This would be stock charger (2.550" max), single CP3, or original fuel pump. This is perhaps the most hotly contested area for Dmax diesel racing, but has no existing class.

Brackets for everyone.

"True Street Diesel" - Must be driven at least 5 miles to the event, street legal and registered, DOT Tires, 3/4 ton or 1 Ton truck, no engine swaps, no drugs/ether, all steel complete body, 6000lb truck minimum weight.

"Pro Street" - Must be driven at least 5 miles to the event, street-legal and registered, DOT tires only. Everything else open. No index. 8.50 minimum safety equipment.

"Big Dawgs" - Anything goes, 1.0 seconds on the tree advantage for pickup bodies, 0.5 for car bodies, and 0 for rails.

Any ideas?

We had a event with our mustangs and street rods once, we met in the morning as a group and then had to go on a 15-20 mile cruise, highway and city, then we arrived at track. It was defiantly a street class, you could easily at that point pick out the non-street cars that attempted :D

I really dont like bracket much, I am more of a heads up guy. I joke all the time about just showing up with a rental car for bracket racing. I'll still compete but I like when grudge racing the best lol.

I like the weight min. idea.

Would water/meth count as drugs..?

Pure water would not be a drug, but methanol or other fuel would.

Are you trying to ruin drag racing for the Dodges? Next thing you are going to ban is bailing wire. Just how do you think they will keep their suspensions mounted?
I see you working your way towards concrete and ether and you know there will be a revolution for sure then.
you're a scary man Pat. :baby::D

Well, yes, most the rulebooks are currently in the Dodge Boys hands, and little input is taken seriously from other brands.

To their credit, the NHRDA is more tolerant of other brands, and doesn't seem to slant the rules for any one brand.

My opinion, based on observations at the track:

I'm not sure "street legal and registered" has any meaning in the diesel world.

Street legal = It was when it was new.
Registered = Yes it has been in the past.

Even the "No Tow Vehicles" has no meaning with DHRA or NADM.

Unless they must actually drive it a distance on the street in order to tech, no street requirements will be enforced. Just a personal observation at the race track. What you read on the internet is of course, different.

Truth is, these are diesel pickups designed for towing. They aren't good racecars. As long as they are still pickups, they are special, but the minute they aren't pickups, they are just average dragcars.

We have went out of our way to make sure we drive the truck on the street to/from the track to head off any questions, and carry stuff in the bed. It's sad to see the internet and magazines portray some of the "street" trucks as something that could be driven on the street and used as a pickup, but they are not.

There is alot of debate as to what a "true diesel pickup" is. My belief is that it must have no spark plugs, be street driven, and be able to carry stuff in the bed.
