Guys and Gals,

I've got a LBZ with 193,000 miles and it runs great! Lots of power, no black smoke, great idle.

I have been consistently getting a P2563 Vane Position Sensor code last 6 months.

I have a CTS2 on the Level 1 tune and I show anywhere from 18%-80% on the position sensor readout during various operating ranges and acceleration. When clearing code, the code returns after a couple of starts.

Truck runs great, plenty of power, no smoke etc.

In all the reading on various forums I am hearing this is most likely sticking vanes.

Question 1: Should I pull the turbo and get it remanufactured? I am not interested in shooting easy off or using some third party products in a short term fix scenario!

Question 2: Who is a reputable resource to use near me that can rebuild this Turbo with upgraded bearings etc?

Question 3: While I am doing this and have to drain some cooling fluid should I do an EGR delete, New manifolds & UP-Pipes and PCV reroute?

My thought is if I am going to have all the piping disconnected I could do a whole sale upgrade.

Thanks for your replies and be Gentle First Post!

Pete

Not sure about your code but an egr delete is always a good idea as well as a PCV reroute. Are there any mods to the truck currently? Also may not be a bad idea to swap that turbo out for a nice Danville 4094 or somthing while your in there!

Lbz, built trans, efi by Danville, Danville 68, full egr delete, mbrp down pipe, 5" mbrp to 7" stack, ppe guages, custom traction bars, airdog2 165, ppe fuel rail mods, s&b, afe blade runner, Arp head studs..died March 2015

Parts collected for the build. SoCal super damper, SoCal billet flex plate, SDP S400 kit, II 85% CP3, PPE manifolds/up pipes, PCV reroute. Slowly but surely lol

I had a lly that did this. Had a stuck unison ring in turbo. You can take the turbo apart and bead blast the unison ring and clean the vains. Also throw a rebuild kit in it while your in there or buy a used turbo off here. There really isn't much inside them.

Any recommendations on sending the Turbo out to get rebuilt? I see "Turbodepotperformance" has some good feedback on ebay etc.

This is something you can do yourself if your mechanically inclined. But if your dead set on having someone rebuild it oil seals and all call mark at Danville. For what they cost to reman id upgrade it with all the time and money your putting in anyways.
