Recently picked up a 2005 Chevy 2500hd Ext cab etc etc and all the fun jazz. I got a pretty good deal on it except for the fact that it currenty has the 6.0 gas engine in it. A friend of mine has An LB7 out of an 02. I can pick it up for a pretty fair price but I don't know if anything was different, installation wise, from the LB7 to the LLY, and what would be needed. I'm new to the forum so I hope I posted in the right spot. Thanks in advanced!

To bolt the duramax in, you will need the passenger side motor mount off the frame for the duramax. You may also need the tranny crossmember. Those two things will allow the motor to sit in the frame

IIRC the LB7 trucks run on a completely different communication system than the LLY trucks do (CANBUS vs Class 2 data?). Not sure where that leaves you, but it won't be plug and play as the ECM won't communicate with the rest of the vehicle.
