I found a 2004 lly with about 25,xxx miles on it. The 8th digit in the vin is a 2 so I think it means its a lly right? Does the lly have the injector problems? What other problems should I lool for? Its a reg cab 2 wheel drive. I do about 100,000 miles a year on my lbz but the price is right on this truck as a backup. Any info is great.... Thanks

Vin code 2 is a LLY. Injectors aren't a common problem, but head gaskets are, as they are the old crimped design vs riveted. They like to heat up more than the other platforms, but I have never seen mine overheat. Some wiring issues can develop too such as #2 and #7 injector harness, and wires rubbing on the fuel injection control module bracket causing shorts. Other than that, they are very reliable.

Your cooling fan may kick in alot, but it should handle it fine. I towed more weight than that in 90 degree weather and never had an issue, but I never tried steep grades. You may want to look into blocking/deleting your EGR and swapping the turbo mouthpiece for an aftermarket or LBZ one, it makes a big difference. I destroyed my head gaskets by being stupid with my Edge CTS. Some people never had a problem, but the higher drive pressure on the turbo, increased cylinder pressures from the programmer, and overheating is a good way to blow them out.

Iv never had a issue with mine and iv got 60k of straight beating the truck racing and pulling. Buy it and you'll love it. Wire harness can be fixed with a ice pick. Cut the zip tie on the bracket holding the harness to the ficm and you shouldnt have any problems
