So I'm desperately looking for help as I'm 4hrs from home on a camping trip with horses and a 40' trailer. Went on a short drive through the campground, during putting around I had shifted the truck down into 1 so I didn't have to keep holding on the brake. Got close to camp and shifted back into D. Spun around to back up into camp site and truck would not shift into reverse. The shift lever was extremely hard to move, I eventually was able to get
It into neutral, but it said "3" on the indicator light. After playing with it I was ae to finally get it up in park, still extremely hard to get there, but when in park and I could shut it off it said N on the indicator. The lights on the P-R-D-3-2-1 are really dim too. I'm in dire help to get this resolved so I can get my family back home on Monday. Thanks!

With someone sitting in the seat holding their foot on the brake have them move the shifter while you crawl underneath and watch what's going on. I'm guessing something is messed up in the cable, or something got jammed in there while you were driving.

I did that already and it seems that it's going through the gears. It just won't go in reverse. When I park it says it's in neutral. I didn't know if it's the NSBU switch.

You are not explaining things so we can understand. When you move the shift lever, does it move to every gear shown on the dash?

When the truck is in park it shows N on the display. When shifting from P, the first click from park doesn't do anything, then next should be neutral, which does nothing, then next click it goes in drive but is showing 3 on the display.

We have not tried pulling any codes. We got caught in a blistering downpour last night and spend most of the evening in our campers. It hasn't thrown a check engine light yet, but will try putting my buddies scanner on that I am with to see if there is anything. The extremely hard to shift lever has/had me puzzled. It's super easy to go from P to R to N to D, but trying to go back up in the P position it gets really stiff.
