Hello I'm relatively new to this form and I've always loved The Duramax. I finally got some funds together and recently got a 2003 Lb7. Its pretty high in mileage but i got it incredibly cheap and well maintained. I've started to mod it a little bit but im stuck and dont know what to do next. I have the PPE Boost Valve on it and then the ppe standard programmer running on the 120hp setting. Problem is that i don't know what my next move should be. I was thinking lift pump, exhaust or something else. Can i get some input from you more experienced people?

Save for a transmission. With that high mileage of a truck and throwing a programmer on it.....only a matter of time.

Tranny is definite at some point but exhaust can be had fairly cheap. From my research 4" is all that's needed. But 5" had a deeper sound

Thats what i was thinking but 4" or 5" is the question...

I run a 4" on my red truck and it wasn't bad at all with no muffler, my dually has a 5" and it is noticeably louder in cab, don't think I could tolerate it with no muffler.

Just have to ask yourself how much drone you can tolerate in your life.

I figured doing something a little cheaper to hold me over for awhile might be nice, especially considering having to cut work hours for school. I like loud exhausts and a 4inch would be nice but for the price im gonna pay, they are only about 30 dollars off of each other. I just dont want to get the 4 inch and regret not getting a 5inch

5" inch dp back straight pipe here and I don't get any drone in the cab and its fairly quite at highway speeds, put a loaded trailer behind it though and it can get pretty crazy! Sounds good though....

4" straight pipe sounds like angry owls having sex. Had it on my first lbz. I now have 3.5" down pipe-5" straight and it's alot deeper and deff something loud when your on it but who here doesn't love that sound?!

I think i will probably go with the 5 inch, just so i dont have regrets later on. The thing is the biggest down pipe i can find is mbrp 3inch. Anything else out there for lb7?

Mines a 3.5 because I'm running a s366. 3 inch is all you can run with stock turbo.for the downpipe check out profab performance. Hes a vendor on this site. Rick does really nice work I had one of his when I had my stock turbo :thumb:

Port matching the intake horn to the turbo is free :thumb:

This free mod will bring a smile to your face every time you drive it. You'll hear your turbo more and your throttle response with be better. When I did mine it was quite noticeable.

You could port/polish your turbo, that's free if you do it yourself. You'll gain hp too. It's more involved than than the turbo horn obviously, haha:D
