I havent really noticed any difference in a 01os. It seems like it learns the same as my 05. I will proabably switch back to my 05os.

I'm really not a fan of even the latest 01 OS as I have found it to learn PAINFULLY slow. Plus I have had nothing but trouble with trying to clear taps and such with it. Most of the time I have to do a full flash as cal flashes won't always take.

2001 TCM OS #15175854 is the one that works nicely on my truck. The grade braking sucks, but other than that it shifts well and is much more predictable than the other OS's

thanks...ill give that os a shot and see what happens.

uh when you do a full flash does it reset the taps on its own or does it still remember that? seemed like it remembered my shifts pretty well when i did it earlier but it could be coincidence i suppose

I've found that it doesn't reset the TAPS, but instead makes them go all haywire. Make sure and check the box to clear the TAPS after flashing in the flash screen and you'll be good to go.

What is the hype about the 01 TCM operating system? Why the 01 over current systems?
If you're thinking about using it on your truck, you can't. The 06+ trucks can't be full flashed to a different OS, and even if they could, the 6 speeds have an all new TCM.

it would be nice to slow the learning process down after you thrash on the truck a few times and get it clicking through the gears consistently and predictably.

either way, I still love my truck! JoshH, your tune is friggin sick! you don't have a clue how many guys have flipped out after being in my "stock" truck with your hot tune! i can't wait to have a little tranny work to back the hp up! :D

well i tried the OS ben talked about...shifts nice so i figure ill leave least till winter when i want my elevated idle back

The 02 OS(15172881) shifts very closely to the 01 but will still give you high idle. I actually prefferred it over the 01 as it seemed to adapt to the built trans's quirks better(the 3-4 shift was MUCH better with the 02).

Honestly, as long as the tune isn't changed, I've never had a problem with my transmission changing how it shifts at WOT.

Thanks for the compliment on the tune. Get yourself a lift pump and a built trans, and I can turn it up a little more for you.
