Hey y'all - My brother has a 2001 Duramax and been having a lot of issues with it lately. First we had injectors and CP3 fail, and now it's acting up again.
At first, it would only act up when the A/C was on and the blower fan set to 5 - setting it to 4 and it would run just fine.
Now it act's like its completely lost one cylinder, runs horrible, occasionally puffs blue smoke (never did until it started to act up again). Not getting fuel in the oil.
I pulled the codes today, and found these codes:
P0088 - Common rail high pressure
P0089 - Suction control valve stuck
P0090 - Fuel pressure up solenoid
P0102 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input
P0113 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
In addition, it keeps turning on the glow plugs even though it's like 90* F outside (never ever seen this happen before!).
I do know that the car lot he got it from had a "mechanic" who never should have touched a car much less a diesel truck, and when he was replacing bad injectors under warranty he was not careful with the wiring harness or the injector driver module or anything...
Any ideas what to do? I don't really trust any mechanics to work on it because almost nobody around here knows ANYTHING about diesels. I'm just not very familiar with Duramax engines as this is the first one I've had the opportunity to work on (I've worked on other diesel engines, but mostly mechanical injection).
Is it possible the harness, ECM or FICM have gone bad?
Thanks for any help!
