I have a 2001 Duramax 6.6 liter that if it sits for sometimes as short as 4 days or sometimes as long as a week, will not start. I have to manually prime the fuel system in order to get it started. It will then run fine. Again, it can sit over night or for several days and start without any problem.

The starter battery will often be dead at the same time, although they tell me they're not related. There have been no modifications made to it.

Sometimes I know that the fuel filter head causes problems. There was a seal or something that I had to change in mine because I had to prime it every few days or it wouldn't start like yours.
