Info: 2001-2005 Duramax water Pmp Housing

Just got a new bulliten not sure where to put it.
ACDelco has a new release for the 2001-2005 water pump cover part number 97228188, it does not include the O ring.
2 new water pumps have also been added the OE pump #is 251-723 and the aftermarket pump # is 252-838
They are replacing them due to some cavitation issues and damaging the housing.

Thanks for the info, Larry! :thumb: How much you want to bet they changed the way the impeller is attached? Pinned it somehow?

I was over at Eric's last week to trade out my heads for a rebuilt set, and he showed me a w/p housing that was all scarred up. Asked me if I had seen it before, and I told him he should probably read the thread here. Told him about your solution (tig), and he's going to do that with every w/p from now on.

This seems to be a couple good pieces to get and wait til my water pump blows off the shaft.....again! Rock Auto has good prices, i found all 3 part numbers. :thumb:
