Gona be performing an upper cylinder injector cleaning to my friends stock low mileage 03 LB7. I believe I read somewhere that 2 stroke oil can be beneficial to the fuel pressure regulator. He's had an intermittent engine light with a P0089 code and I thought if i run some 2 stroke oil through the system that it may solve his code issue. Well after I perform the cleaning cycle I was thinking about idling through another gallon of #2 with the 2 stroke oil but I'm not certain as to how much oil to add to it. I have a 16 ounce bottle of Maxima Castor 927. Its a synthetic blend made of synthetic esters and degummed castor oil. Does my plan sound okay in terms of preventative maintenance. Whats your thoughts guys. Thanks.

Take a look at this (Rank #7 is the Wal-mart brand 2 stroke oil):

Adding lubricity to the fuel, especially an LB7, will be beneficial but no one can say for sure adding some 2 stroke oil will "solve" the code issue. Don't get me wrong, some guys have added 2 stroke to the fuel tank and would help free up the FPR. It's definitely worth a shot but the FPR could be too far gone. Regarding the Maxima Castor 927, I have no experience with it. Personally I would stick with something that's on the list because it has been tested and proven.

I still run it on my LB7. It helped limp a weak FPR along for an extra 40 or 50k miles, but it still eventually gave out. I started at 500:1, and worked up to 200:1 before I replaced the FPR. With the new one, I run 500:1 again.
