run away. fast.

I wouldnt trust being under that lift with a vw beetle on it...much less a 8,000lb truck!

for starters, the title and big print says 10k capacity. Then the description says 11,000lb capacity????

second. It says "warranty: yes". Well? What does "yes" mean...30 days? 90 days? 5 years?

third. Good, safe lifts are never "combo symmetrical/assymetrical". BIG red flag there...you cant really build/design a lift that is equally stable in both configurations.

fourth. The carriage assembly looks like a joke. There are no gussets, extra plating, or anything. 11,000lb capacity? My ass...

fifth. the place selling it. they give no info about their company, if spare parts are available. They obviously dont really know anything about the lifts and probably dont even have an address (just their parents basement). They are just a middle man that drop-ships everything directly from the generic dong wang company in china where Ill bet a dozen donuts they would look at you like  if you asked about quality control.

And finally! It weighs 1,680lbs. My 2-post lift from a known-name-brand US-based company, sold to me by a dealer that actually stocks the lifts AND parts in the US, is rated at "only" 9,000lb capacity...and it weighs more than 1,680lbs!! So basically, their "11,000lb lift" has less mass and guts than my 9,000lb lift... sketchy...

Im directing my above comments at the company selling this POS generic lift....not at you! Dont take any offense and I dont mean to be an ass, but this is something that could potentially seriously injure you...and like I said, I sure as hell wouldnt want anything to do with that lift.

www.gregsmithequipment.com is where I got mine. Take a look around their website. There is some great info about the difference between their lifts vs. generic lifts, how their lifts are tested (to AMERICAN standards), and what to look for when purchasing a lift.

here is a good thread, its worth taking a read through it to see everyones input in the subject. I posted some long posts about my lift as well as some pics.

Im not trying to be a salesperson for greg smith equipment, but I just had such a good experience with them...everyone I spoke to there could answer (in an american accent!!) some of the really detailed technical questions I had. They stock all parts for the lifts, they stock the lifts themselves in their warehouse/showroom, test the lifts themselves, have several different locations in the US and have been around for I dunno 30 years??

I ordered the lift on wednesday and it arrived on friday, shipped from their delaware location.

Ha I wouldnt take it that way like I said any info appreicated, I have no experience with car lifts so feel free to tell me what you know. I wasnt to sure of the lift either I noticed the 10,000lb then they had it rated for 11,000 lb, Ill deffently look into the smith lifts now. I just knew that price was too good to be true for a 10,000lb lift most the ones ive looked at have been over 2000 at that price. Thanks, for the help Ben :thumb:

any well-known name brand lift with a good 5-year warranty can be trusted... rotary, bend-pak, mohawk, greg smith etc....

as far as capacity, like I said my lift is rated at "only" 9,000lbs...but that is a REAL true 9,000lbs and is heavier duty construction than the 10,000-11,000lbs generic no-name lifts I have seen.

I have lifted crew cab long bed dmax duallys with zero issues. One of the dmax crew/long bed/duallys ive worked on even had big road armor bumpers front and rear. I can grab onto the bumpers and wiggle them when they are up in the air and the lift is rock solid. My lift has also handled ford powerstroke super duty's (which, as everyone knows, are much heavier than the GM HD trucks) with zero issues...

yeah, if you have the ceiling height get the overhead lift. I didnt so I just got the baseplate lift. Greg smith has several different lifts, make sure you get one of the higher-end ones with the 5-year warranty.

I would definently get one that is at least 12000 lb capacity, The shop i took mine to lifted my truck with a 10000 lb with no problems until i showed them that the arme were bending down & the truck was getting ready to be grounded.
