Looking to go to our local 2.6 class in michigan. its not SUPER competitive like it is down south so a big cheetah would be competitive for us.

i'm looking to keep stock rods and pistons at least for a little while until i get more funds to do so. Going to get RDL manifolds and a duel fueler then bigger injectors (what % is up for discussion)

Which turbo would be a good one to go with. the Big Cheetah 71.5mm, 4094, or s366? or is there another one out there that would work better?

While a stock bottom end is not the ideal for dual pumps, big turbo, and big sticks. With the proper tuning it can and has been done (and I would dare say you need all 3 PLUS good tuning to make it all live). There is NO guarantee that your motor will live as well/long as someone elses. That being said, poor tuning and the parts you are looking for is a big no-no and can cause a motor to blow in a blink of an eye. I would look at this forum (and others) and see what reputable shops have done for good power out of stock bottom ends and then enlist their help with part selection AND tuning. Good tuning and wrong parts, or right parts and wrong tuning is bad for a stock bottom end.

If your motor was built you can afford to have a mismatch (as you don't have as much worry about a bent rod causing a piston to clearance itself or a rod exiting the block), but with stock parts you have to be careful, so follow those that have done the research and proven results (unless you have deep pockets and can afford a whole new engine).

I hope this helps.

he pulls around us here in Michigan and goes to the drag strip. I don't know him very well though Tom whats his name on the forums?

and i know i'll be i'll be on borrowed time for my rods etc. just want a turbo that'll help me keep them together slightly longer than a dedicated 2.6 charger will.

I've been running a 71.5 cheetah dual pumps and 60 overs this year with great results but like leadfoot said its tuning and alota luck! I thought i'd be able to save the money over the summer for a build but we know how things go and that hasn't happened to i'm going to try and push the motor one more season. I've been very competitive every where i go i feel like i have a shot at the win. I've hooked mostly in 2.6/pro stock diesel classes with a few open classes thrown in keep in mind though i live in the northeast where its not ultra competitive like the midwest is

yea, after i install whatever turbo i install lol i'll take it down to DuramaxTuner and have it custom tuned on a dyno. They've treated me quite well with my stock turbo tuning and have damn good customer service.

This would be a good spot to take a look at Travis' setup or Trent's. Travis ran a S475 for 2 yrs? on a stock motor pulling quite competitively and Trent beat the crap out of his on stock bottom end. Of course they had all of the mentioned above, good tuning and careful application of power ;)

I am running a S366 with 60% nozzles, and a 120% CP3 and have staid pretty competitive in my area but I haven't been able to get to as meany pulls as I would like to of. Dyno numbers say one things and my drag times reflect it around 650HP on a stock bottom end but yes I know it will only be a matter of time.

I survived with stock g80, stock axles and welded front carrier on stock gearing (3.73) with 305/75/16 duratracs up front and 285/75/16 ATZ duals in the rear. I had modded dual pumps, stock sticks and Danville modded 3788. I was around the 650 range. Ran great and was very competitive down here in southern Indiana, got 2nd place in our 2.6 points organization. I'm sure the drivetrain was pure luck! But I chock the motor up to great tuning by Mark Broviak. Next year going DP bat mo 475, 150% 8 hole injectors, head studs manifolds and up pipes 38 spline axles and 4.56 gears and changing to a elocker in the front. I know I will be on borrowed time, if it goes it goes, I know it could at anytime. We are planning on running conservative tuning to try and make it last. Dont have all the funds to do a full build but wanted to get everything else ready around the motor this year and do the build next year. We'll see
