1st gear ratio change

MY TRANS GUY WAS GOING THROUGH HIS ALLISON ATSG BOOK AND CALLED ME TODAY ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF CHANGING THE RATIOS IN THE ALLISON TRANS. HE STATED THAT THE ALLISON 2000 SHARE ALOT OF THE SAME PARTS AS THE 1000 SERIES WE HAVE IN OUR TRUCKS; AND WHAT WOULD BE THE POSSIBILITY OF CHANGING THE 1ST GEAR RATIO FROM THE 3.10 IT HAS TO A 3.50 THE 2000 SERIES HAS? ANYWAYS I WAS THROWING THIS OUT THERE FOR MAYBE A RACE APPLICATION. MIKE L YOU KNOWLEDGE IS APPRECIATED:hello: SORRY FOR THE ALL CAPS

Our first gear is already too steep for racing, and has a huge RPM drop going into second. A better gear would be in the 2.6 range. This would be better suited to our power output. This is why many of us launch in 2nd instead of first.

I looked at that 5 years ago. Great for tow trucks.

thats what i told him, about the huge rpm drop in second sometimes barking the turbo sometimes on that shift.

you cant "just change 1st gear"

if you change the ratio of one gear, they all change
