Truck drives fine but has no reverse. Fluid has no odd color or smell. I don't know when the last time it was serviced. Is this a 200r4? Drove fine one day and the next morning it had no reverse to get out of the drive way. It's not my truck but if it was a cheap fix I would give the guy the $200 he wants for it and beat the crap out of it. Didn't know where to post this and didn't dare put it in the allison section for fear of being killed on the internet. Thank's

You should put it in the Allison section. Sounds to me like you have a broken cushion spring in the reverse drum if forward is fine. Most times the shell will strip out the splines but that would affect forward gears also. Don't think it will be a cheap fix once you go into it.

Mike, you're a moderator, you can move threads. It will leave a "redirect" even.

Interesting. I was also told today that it doesn't shift unless it is over 3500 rpm. I think I will leave this one alone unless I could locate a cheap functional tranny to swap in. Thank's for the info Mike. I will post all my tranny questions in the trany section no matter what they are.
