Anyone run 275-60-17 or 285-60-17 nitto 420s or toyo proxes for racing? I'm going to ditch my 22's for these rims but not sure on what size to get. 275 is 30" and 285 is 30.50". Lmm rims are 17x7.5. Figured I'd ask. Right now my 22'a are 100 lbs rim and tire.

i have the 17" lmm wheels on my truck now but i can only find one size of the 420's available and they are the 30" i would buy a set of 420's now if they had just a little bit bigger size available

edit: I didn't think about toyo's  but fwiw my current size is 265/70/17 shit street tire

What's the max width tire you can run on the 7.5" rims? I know PYO's are 265 to be safe, but with airig down I think I just may stick with 275's I'm not worried about tire height much, 4000 rpm in 5th is 130 with those tires.

i was hoping you were gonna be the tester on this, im not a fan of big wheels for the obvious reasons so im really curious as to what you come up with :thumb:

so that's roughly a 30" tire and it looks like its available in a 420 and proxes.

so the question is what would it look like on the truck  that was the only thing stopping me.

I'm 99% sure they some make 420's for a 17" rim. And I'm fairly certain they don't make the proxes for a 17" rim.

Check out Pirelli scorpions dude. I had them on my stock rims and they were the stickiest tire I've driven on my truck.

I have LMM wheels with 35x12.50, it would be like running a 285 on PYOs which people do all the time but I'm not sure on a racing application..I would think you would want a wider wheel for more rubber on the ground meaning more traction, but I'm no racer either..

your thinking is correct. better then contact patch is on the ground, the better the chance of keeping grip

Ended up settling on 285-60-17 nitto's. 30.5" tall. 160 a pop. a LMM rim with 265-70-17 Bridgestone is 58 lbs. Cutting 30lbs per corner looks like it will help some.
