Can you run 15" diameter wheels on an 06 GMC? or will you run into brake clearance problems? any one know or have tried?

I know you cant go smaller then what the stock wheel size is. On my wifes 06 1500 I tried to put 16s on but the stock wheels were 17s so it didnt fit the brake caliper touches the wheel

You can, but you'll have to do some grinding :D

Grinding on the wheel or the caliper:rofl:

I was hoping someone had tried this and suceeded. TrXus makes a 33x14.50x15. Now how hard would it be for them to make a 33x14.50x16 or 18??????

check and see but most 15" tires aren't going to be more than a load range c tire. Maybe the TrXus will be different?

Don't really care about the load range. I want it to flex while pulling. These tires will never see the street. I'm just curious if 15" rims will fit over our calipers and clear. If so, the selection of pulling tires just improved.:D

I knew they'd be only pulling tires but wouldn't you still want something heavier duty? I'm asking, not telling. There's a LOT of force on them dudes on a pulling track. I'm currently runnign LRC tires on my truck but I don't haul anything and they were cheap for some winter wheels. :D

Thanks for the info Rob! I may put the 16" back on it and see how much clearance there is. Did he really have to chop the calipers bad? How much reverse dish did he run with out hitting e cable and line? I really wish TrXus made a 33x14.50 in a 16 or 18 insted of just a 15:mad:

I currently am running 325 18" M/T ATZ which is a 33x13.50x18 and it isn't enough. We can't run duals on SRW trucks in our club. I may be opening a can of hate mail but I don't think dual should be allowed on SRW trucks and I think all trucks (duallys included)should be limited to the amount of tread on the ground to keep everything equal. But that is another story....

I know my truck could handle bar tires but that would limit me to only 1 class. If I run street tires I can pull in 2. Thus, the search for the widest street pulling tire that will fit our trucks. Mickey Thompson discontinued the 15.50 wide tires in the ATZ, MTZ and Claw:mad:

I found a New set of 4 Dick Cepek FunCountry II 33x15.50x18 but they want $1500 for the set. OUCH They also have the Dick Cepek Mud Country and Mickey Thompson MTZ in that size also for the same money. Which tire out of the 3 above would be the best puller in the midwest.

I think you'd be surprised how much more bite an STS has over an ATZ.

I don't like the current dually rules either. I think if you have duals on the back, you have to run a standard dually rim on the front.;)

I don't like duallies either, but I haven't been beat by one yet.

On edit: If you're not going to pony up the money for the 15.5's, then why are you complaining about trxus not have a 33/15.5/18? As that size in a trxus would be 1200+. I am lost.

Wouldn't have a problem ponying up for TrXus, just hesitant on the others. This is over double what I could have bought them for when they were in production and are they gonna be much better than what I already have?...

from discussions on CompD, the folks who have tried the 33x13.50 STS didn't like them. They are bias ply rather than a radial like the 12.50
