I've researched and put it all together in my mind so far. Any particular gotcha's from you experienced folks? I've never swapped a CP3 :) One youtube video recommended a punching bag and case of beer nearby, LOL.

I'll need to assemble a list of O-rings and other add on items, but I can search for those part numbers. I'll prolly change my thermostats while the cover is off too, since they are original at 110K.

Thanks in advance for any seasoned advice :)

TX of course
The only thing that never crossed my mind was swapping the gear off the stocker. Not a big deal if you have a vice and few blocks of wood. Just be careful.

If you have time and a vehicle and don't have a vice could do like I did.. Went to a parts store (o Reilly in my case) and they pulled the gear for me..

it just looks like a gear pressed on a tapered stem. I don't think that'll give me much trouble. Maybe a shim on each side with a few taps and a burb or two from my airhammer on the hub, no?

Hold the gear in your hand, suspending the pump, tap the shaft/looseened nut and the gear will pop right off. Easiest part of the job:thumb:

I had to put mine in a vice, but I'm a little guy so maybe y'all Heman can hold it bare handed.

Shims would probably work to to hold the gear from turning. I just gave the pump shaft a good wack protecting it with a block of wood. No need for an air hammer.

Wow that's surprising to hear. Most the time I go in with a simple question and they give me a blank stare then ask if it's 4x4 is it a manual or auto lol etc etc.
